VVCC Western Chapter Members by Pidge,
I have agreed to start this little newsletter to help us keep in touch with each other through out the year. I will send it as e-mail to those who have addresses and the others will get snail mail.
The National ?Route 66 ? Rally in Arizona was a great time for all who attended. We only had 24 coaches but Western did their part with 9. I don't think anyone from Central was there. The folks from the east got a good taste of the Wild West. Dan and Mary Grove did a great job and found a neat little campground right off Route 66 with our own cook and meeting tent. The owners went all out and fed us three great meals every day and lots of Western entertainment. Suzie and Jim Snyder kept us busy with visits to the north rim of the Grand Canyon by way of our own private coach on the Grand Canyon Railroad train which it's sad to report was half empty.
We also visited an Indian site on the edge of a valcano near Flagstaff, complete with a catered lunch provided by our hosts.
Special dress up nights gave everyone a chance to be Spanish, Cowboys,Remember the 50's,or even Indians and many nights we danced the night away.
Ron Svilka took over as Pres of National and Jolene Norvele accepted V.P., and Shirley Roberts remained Secr/Treas.
Wester Chapter had a little meeting and we had no one willing at this time to except President so Fin martin said he would continue on as a pro tem till we have elections. Without a Pres we can't continue as a club. Glen Kerns agreed to be Vp and try and set up a spring Rally. We also agreed to meet in Quartsite in Jan {21-26].Those wanting to attend should check in with John Ellison,[310-367-8401] and let him know. This rally has always been a sort of an unofficial one but we usually have about 15 coaches. We still dont have a fall rally for the treck to National in Pennsylvania inSept. We need suggestions from all of you.
Family news: John Ellison's daughter had surgery for a brain tumor while we aere in Az. It turned out NOT to be malignant and she is home now. She has a little periferal vision trouble .
Judy Carrillo and Bill were unable to attend as her mother was ill. We hope she is feeling better now.
Gene Jett hasen't sold his coach yet so he and Melva were able to be with us but Gene is having back troubles.
We missed the Mellors but understand Shirley is still recovering from her back surgery.
We missed Ben and Stella and we heard they have moved to Show Low, Az to be close to her girls after suffering a stroke. Last I knew she was recovering well with little damage.
Don?t know if they sold their coach.
Several members lost loved ones while we were at Rally. Our condolences to all of you
Several of the coaches left this rally and headed to Albequerque for the balloon fest. That sounded like another adventure to me.
Well folks hope this catches you up on all I know . I Agreed to send this little news note every few months to help us keep up to date on where we are traveling and what is important in our lives and adventures.
Please note it will all depend on what information you are willing to share .
